Social Media Policy

At Prince Rupert Community League, we recognize the importance of social media as a tool for communication and engagement with our members, supporters, and the wider community. To ensure that our social media presence is professional, respectful, and aligned with our values and mission, we have established the following policy for personal posts, small business posts, and paid advertising on our social media accounts:

Disclaimer

  1. Posts from individuals, small businesses, or advertisers can be used for awareness or advertising purposes that are relevant to the Prince Rupert Community League and its members.
  2. Awareness includes providing information and understanding of particular events, businesses, or subjects.
  3. Advertising includes describing or drawing attention to a product, service, or event in order to promote sales or attendance.

Personal Posts

  1. Members of Prince Rupert Community League are free to express their personal opinions on social media. Still, they should clearly state that these opinions are their own and not representative of the organization.
  2. Personal posts should not contain any derogatory or offensive language, images, or messages that could be construed as discriminatory or inappropriate.
  3. Personal posts should not interfere with the operations of Prince Rupert Community League or create conflicts of interest or perceived biases.

Small Business Posts

  1. Prince Rupert Community League welcomes posts from local small businesses on our social media accounts, but reserves the right to remove any posts deemed inappropriate, offensive, or irrelevant to our mission.
  2. Small business posts should clearly identify the business and any promotional offers or events they are promoting.
  3. Small business posts should not be framed as endorsements or sponsorships by Prince Rupert Community League, and should not suggest any official affiliation with the organization.
  4. Small businesses located within the Kingsway District Association or within the confines of the Prince Rupert neighborhood are eligible to post on Prince Rupert Community League’s social media.

Paid Advertising

  1. Prince Rupert Community League may accept paid advertising on our social media accounts, but reserves the right to decline any ads that are deemed inappropriate, offensive, or conflicting with our values and mission.
  2. Paid ads must clearly identify the advertiser and the product or service being promoted, and should not suggest any official endorsement or affiliation with Prince Rupert Community League.
  3. Paid ads must comply with all applicable laws and regulations, including those related to consumer protection, privacy, and intellectual property rights.
  4. Paid advertising is permitted only from businesses within the Kingsway District Association or those serving the Prince Rupert neighborhood and communities surrounding the neighborhood.

Emails

  1. Prince Rupert Community League welcomes requests for content distribution to the PRCL membership from individuals, small businesses, and local advertising, but reserves the right to not distribute any content deemed inappropriate, offensive, or conflicting with the values of our mission.
  2. Emails marked for distribution should not contain any derogatory or offensive language, images, or messages that could be construed as discriminatory or inappropriate.
  3. Emails marked for distribution should not interfere with the operations of Prince Rupert Community League or create conflicts of interest or perceived biases.
  4. Small business emails for distribution should clearly identify the business and any promotional offers or events they are promoting.
  5. Small business emails for distribution should not be framed as endorsements or sponsorships by Prince Rupert Community League, and should not suggest any official affiliation with the organization.
  6. Paid ads for email distribution must clearly identify the advertiser and the product or service being promoted, and should not suggest any official endorsement or affiliation with Prince Rupert Community League.
  7. Paid ads for email distribution must comply with all applicable laws and regulations, including those related to consumer protection, privacy, and intellectual property rights.

Any violations of this social media policy may result in the removal of content, temporary or permanent suspension of social media accounts, or other disciplinary action as deemed appropriate by Prince Rupert Community League. We encourage all members, supporters, and stakeholders to use social media responsibly and respectfully, and to contact us with any questions or concerns regarding this policy.
